It’s always fun to see the different variations we get when we start a new project. If you’d like to participate in our Diamond Strings project that continues through October 31, check out the guidelines here.
A group of us sewed this past weekend to kick off the project and I’d thought I’d share some of our results here.
The HeartStrings sew-in continues through Labor Day, are you participating? I finished my Diamond Strings top today as a part of our special project through October 31. The guidelines can be found here: Diamond Strings
Michele inspires us with a new string/crumb quilt as she shares how string quilting and helping others fit into her crazy, busy life. Read more about it on her blog.
Have you always wanted to join a HeartStrings sew-in but lived too far away? Join us this weekend for a virtual sew-in to launch our Diamond Strings project which will continue through October 31st.
You can make blocks to send in, you can piece an entire top, or make the quilt from start to finish yourself. Guidelines can be found here:
Our 3rd Annual sew-in held at Roberts, WI was a success with 14 quilters attending. We worked on past and current projects as well as making HeartStrings blocks.
The largest group worked on assembling Happy Blocks from a project earlier this year. Although we’re no longer accepting Happy Blocks for group quilts, you can find instructions to make your own here – Happy Block Instructions.

Don’t forget that there’s an upcoming sew-in on Saturday, August 22nd in Robert’s, WI. If you can’t join us in person think about joining us at home and working on either Diamond String blocks for our newest project or our standard HeartStrings blocks.
Do you remember the Happy Block project we started back in January and February? Well we’re still making and finishing quilts in fact I put the last stitch in the binding of one tonight and I was excited to read the email from Sue about her group. She wrote:
When I saw this site with the happy block quilts, I linked it to the leader of our Sarasota KIDZ Quilts group and we have been making dozens of them for 2 months now!! We donate all of them to the NICU of the Sarasota hospital…and they are so appreciated.
She sent along some photos and I chose a few to share here.
I’m late getting these photos posted from the last HeartStrings Sew-in which was held on the 26th of June in the Seattle area. Doesn’t it look like fun? The next one will be held in Roberts, WI so plan to join us!
